About Me

I firmly believe that everyone deserves pregnancy and birth support. For centuries, women have been supported by their close family and loved ones during pregnancy and childbirth—I am one of many who finds value and honor in continuing in that role of service. Here are some tidbits about me that may help in deciding if I can be of service to you! I recently received my Bachelors of Science in Nursing from George Mason University and work as a labor and delivery nurse in Northern Virginia. I completed formal birth doula training and I am certified through DONA International. I am also a Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator as well as a Certified Lactation Counselor through Healthy Children Project Inc. My hunger for learning covers all elements of the pregnancy, birth, and postpartum process.

  • Prior to my journey as a birth worker, I served as an educator for a local school system in Northern Virginia. I pull from my background as an educator to inspire and engage others through sound, evidence-based information.

  • After a long trying-to-conceive journey, I became a mother in September 2018. I draw from my struggle with infertility and uterine fibroids to provide unwavering support to moms who have a similar story or simply want to be heard. My work as a doula is not just based on anecdotal experiences, I believe it to be spiritual… my ministry. God carefully orchestrated specific scenarios to play out so that I can serve in a greater capacity in the lives of other women. I recognize that the journey of motherhood, pregnancy, and birth is a vulnerable and special time to grow as an individual and to embrace the beauty of change that starts with one small heartbeat.

  • I have firsthand experience with breastfeeding as I have nursed my sons well into toddlerhood. My passion for breastfeeding has led me to pursue lactation training so that I may assist mothers in their breastfeeding journey.

  • I value diversity and will make sure that the support and resources provided to your family are individualized to meet your specific wishes and needs. My family is from Ghana, which is where I have spent many extended vacations over the course of my lifetime! I have been fortunate enough to travel to many countries over the years and enjoy learning about other cultures with my husband and children.
